Scotland - Carrier Bag Charge goes live 20 October 2014

A reminder that a new law that will require ALL retailers (food and non-food) to charge a minimum of 5p for each new single-use carrier bag (including paper, those made from some plant based materials and plastic) will come into effect on 20 October 2014.

The Government plans to introduce a 5p charge on all single-use plastic carrier bags in England in October 2015. There is already a similar 5p charge on single-use bags in Wales and Northern Ireland.
